Glancer - May 2009

Q: I'm expecting my first baby this summer and I'm looking for an exercise program to help stay in shape during my pregnancy. What would you recommend?

A.   First of all - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
As a trainer, Pilates instructor and mother of four, one of the best ways I've found to strengthen and tone your body both pre- and postnatal is Pilates. In just a few short weeks of practice you will begin to see positive changes in your body.
Because Pilates training builds and defines muscles from your deep core working out into the periphery, it’s excellent exercise to incorporate during your pregnancy.  You’ll see and feel physical results like increased stamina and find that Pilates also helps you become more aware of changes specific to your pregnancy; enhancing the way you bond with your growing baby.
At Inner Focus Pilates Studio (IFP), we have designed Pilates programming specifically for pregnancy.  Classes focus on modifications and the special exercise requirements of expecting mothers. Workouts include a full range of exercises performed on the reformer, Cadillac, chair and barrels, in addition to adapted mat exercises utilizing a variety of smaller equipment.  A therapeutic Pilates program is also one of the absolute best ways to get your pre-baby body back post-partum.  At IFP we are all highly qualified to help you take care of your body at this very special time of your life!

Located at 125 W. Front Street in Wheaton, Illinois, IFP is a full service Pilates studio offering private, semi-private and group Pilates sessions in the STOTT PILATES® method. Contact us at www.innerfocuspilates.com.
